Proofreader (English & Spanish)

About the Role

MasteryPrep is recruiting skilled proofreaders to join our remote team based in the USA. This temporary position offers $35 per hour to professionals fluent in both English and Spanish who are passionate about enhancing educational content. Your work will directly support leveling the academic playing field by ensuring high-quality, accessible learning materials that help students reach college-ready standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify lesson materials—including print, slide decks, online lessons, and practice tests—for grammatical precision, clarity, and conformity with defined style guidelines.
• Perform content evaluation in both English and Spanish languages.
• Report errors and issues effectively through ticketing systems or as per instructions.
• Maintain consistent quality and adherence to style across all content produced.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with the MasteryPrep team regarding deadlines, feedback, and progress transparency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in proofreading or editing.
• Exceptional command of English and Spanish, including grammar rules and usage.
• Comfort reviewing diverse subjects such as English Language Arts, STEM, and Social Sciences.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and apply detailed style guide standards.
• Strong time management skills to meet deadlines typically within 24 hours.
• Familiarity with and access to a stable internet connection, Slack messaging platform, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat DC.
• Experience with screen capture or recording software is a plus but not mandatory.
• Preference given to candidates with experience in test preparation, high standardized test scores, or an education background.

Additional Information

This opportunity is a part-time, independent contractor (1099) role, offering a competitive hourly wage of $35. The position demands commitment to quality and timely delivery while working remotely.
