Job Summary

The Project Driver operates under the guidance of the Operations Specialist to ensure safe and efficient transportation of the project team and visitors during field monitoring activities. The driver maintains the assigned vehicle's condition to guarantee optimal performance throughout its use.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dependable and secure transport services using office vehicles for staff and authorized visitors and handle delivery of documents and program-related materials.
• Comply with travel policies, staff regulations, administrative guidelines, and financial rules concerning travel.
• Help maintain and update fleet management policies.
• Implement cost-saving measures by proper vehicle usage, maintaining accurate daily logs, and assisting in the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
• Conduct daily upkeep of the vehicle, including minor repairs, coordinating major repairs, oil changes, tire and brake inspections, and cleaning.
• Keep detailed records of fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Ensure availability and proper documentation of necessary vehicle papers, equipment, and supplies, including insurance, logs, maps, directories, first aid kits, and spare parts.
• Practice defensive driving and adhere to relevant laws, safety rules, and policies.
• Assist with physical tasks such as office relocations and support meetings and conferences as needed.
• Maintain courteous and professional interactions with clients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Approach interactions with officials and visitors diplomatically using high emotional intelligence.
• Follow prescribed protocols for accident handling effectively.
• Exercise sound judgment in assigned duties and adhere strictly to organizational policies.
• Contribute to basic security management by assessing and mitigating risks in work locations.
• Perform any additional project support duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Secondary school certificate, National Diploma, or Higher National Diploma in arts or social sciences.
• Valid Class B or D driving license.
• At least three years of demonstrated driving experience in Lagos State and nearby areas.

Languages and Communication

Excellent written and spoken English communication skills required.

Travel

This position requires traveling approximately 50% of the time.

Required Skills

• Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.
