Job Overview

Valard Construction's Transmission Operations team seeks a Project Assistant for a fixed-term contract based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, from July 2026 through July 2027. This site-based role follows a rotational schedule of 20 days on and 8 days off.

Key Responsibilities

Provide financial and procurement assistance including accounts receivable/payable management, invoice review, purchase order requests and closures, packing slip collection, procurement support, and processing expense reports.
Review and verify timesheets, and input payroll data into company systems.
Coordinate travel arrangements such as flights, accommodations, and ground transportation.
Offer IT support to on-site personnel and submit necessary IT service requests.
Collect, enter, and distribute data for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
Carry out general administrative duties and organize hard copy documents, including updating Foremen Binders with new drawings.
Actively participate in company safety programs.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a comparable project support position, with at least 2 years in related administrative roles.
Familiarity with material management and purchasing processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Skills

Experience handling accounts payable functions.
Education: Degree or diploma in Business Administration.
Document control experience.
Past work in construction or utility industry environments.
Knowledge of JD Edwards software.

Compensation and Benefits
