Our software optimizes energy consumption by shifting usage to times when electricity is greener and less costly, managing assets such as vehicle chargers, heating systems, and home batteries. We currently oversee hundreds of thousands of energy assets. Operating within a traditional industry, we move large-scale energy in real-time, adapting quickly to meet demand. Role Overview

We are seeking our inaugural product designer to elevate design standards company-wide. Axle creates innovative energy products ranging from straightforward solutions for general consumers to sophisticated tools for early adopters and enthusiasts. Our work involves tackling novel and complex challenges where user experience is paramount.

Our flat, autonomous organizational structure deploys small interdisciplinary teams comprising engineers and product managers. We want to integrate a strong design perspective to understand users, shape strategic direction, and champion the customer voice. This role involves hands-on design execution as well as mentoring teammates to enhance design quality throughout the firm.

The position also includes responsibility for managing Axle’s external representation aimed at prospects, clients, investors, and potential hires.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze user challenges and craft intuitive, effective experiences to address them.
• Develop scalable design systems that combine creative and technical solutions to enable faster, more consistent software delivery.
• Advance our user research culture by gaining detailed insights into how users engage with Axle’s B2C and B2B2C products.
• Lead visual branding efforts and innovate in storytelling through mediums such as websites, animations, and videos.
• Collaborate with global clients to improve their user experience.

• Equity stake in Axle alongside a competitive salary totaling between £75,000 and £200,000 (combining base and equity).
