Position Summary
Offering a full-time position based in Calgary, Alberta, reporting to the Manager of Project Management Office and Operations. The role targets professionals with at least five years of hands-on experience in direct supply chain management within technical industries, ideally in agile and expanding companies. A contractor engagement is also a possible employment arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure procurement processes adhere strictly to company policies while recommending improvements when necessary.
- Utilize efficient, lean procurement methodologies to optimize purchasing.
- Keep thorough and precise records of all purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Work closely with engineering teams to capture purchasing needs across current projects.
- Act as the central liaison for all project material procurement requirements.
- Forecast material demand to develop strategic procurement plans.
- Manage inventory levels to avoid excess or shortages impacting project flow.
- Identify and vet dependable suppliers to fulfill project material demands.
- Assess supplier performance based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery reliability.
- Conduct contract negotiations to secure advantageous terms and maintain a comprehensive supplier database.
- Lead bidding processes and evaluate competitive bids in collaboration with engineering.
- Analyze market trends and opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
- Ensure budget and schedule alignment by optimizing purchasing expenditures.
- Issue purchase orders and track delivery statuses diligently.
- Assist account management with invoice handling, payments, and expense recording within project systems.
- Verify the receipt and appropriate allocation of materials according to quality and quantity expectations.
- Address and resolve problems such as product delays, defects, shipment errors, or returns promptly.
- Coordinate outgoing shipments with logistics and client coordination teams to ensure smooth distribution.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field.
- Between one and five years of relevant experience in procurement, warehousing, and supply chain functions preferred.
- Experience procuring piping, equipment, structural assemblies, instrumentation, control systems, and electrical components.
- Exposure to industrial facility environments is advantageous.
- Proactive attitude capable of driving initiatives to completion.
- Strong ability to foster positive relations with vendors and cross-functional project teams.
- Capability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
- Competence in designing procurement policies and procedures to support organizational growth.
- Superior organizational skills and detailed record-keeping abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication aptitudes.
