Role overview
ZMI Holdings is hiring a Procurement Officer to support its growing Abu Dhabi operation. In this position, you will manage purchasing activities end to end: sourcing suppliers, assessing options, negotiating terms, and making sure goods and services arrive on time. The role is important to keeping company operations compliant with internal policies and procedures.
What you will do
- Raise purchase orders for parts, equipment, and materials.
- Apply supplier selection standards in line with the SHEQMS Purchasing Procedures.
- Research, shortlist, and recommend suppliers after checking availability of required parts, equipment, and materials.
- Gather quotations for expensive items according to the agreed process, while keeping price comparisons updated for consumables.
- Use only suppliers listed on the ZMI Supplier List and choose those that provide the best overall service.
- Carry out all purchasing activities in accordance with the approved procedures.
- Make full use of the purchasing system database and keep it properly maintained.
- Work with the requestor to identify urgent orders and agree delivery timelines.
- Track deliveries closely and confirm that delivery requirements are met.
- Stay in regular contact with Vessels and Fleet Managers about urgent deliveries and order placement.
- Coordinate with accounts on overseas order payments and invoices, making sure coding is correct and invoices are received in the required format.
- Ensure the monthly accrual report is sent to the accounts team on time.
- Build a strong understanding of job requirements and the techniques needed to perform them well.
- Show initiative in learning new processes and take responsibility for your own development.
Requirements
- Diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a Purchasing Officer.
- Project management skills.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Excellent negotiation and communication capability.
- Ability to interpret market trends and use them to make sound buying decisions.
- Knowledge of procurement rules and best practices.
