Procurement Lead (Materials Management)

Role Overview

This role involves leading and managing the Materials Management Team (MMT) Buyers to facilitate timely, cost-efficient, and ethical procurement of materials, components, and services essential for production and customer fulfilment. The position emphasizes driving supplier performance, achieving procurement excellence, mitigating supply risks, and fostering continual operational enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor the MMT Buyers team to meet procurement and operational key performance indicators.
• Formulate and implement procurement strategies ensuring material availability and punctual delivery.
• Track purchase orders, supplier commitments, and potential material shortages to uphold production timelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, and Finance teams to resolve material-related challenges and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Establish and nurture productive supplier partnerships through performance appraisals, scorecards, and strategic initiatives.
• Design procurement policies aligned with business objectives focusing on supply continuity and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop mitigation strategies to address supply risks and manage critical material requirements.
• Ensure adherence to ISO standards and company procurement policies, promoting ethical sourcing practices.
• Drive continuous improvement and purchasing process optimization initiatives.
• Temporarily perform buyer duties as needed to maintain business continuity and meet delivery commitments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or comparable discipline.
• At least five years of professional experience in procurement or supply chain within a manufacturing context.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing procurement or purchasing teams.
• Proficiency with ERP and MRP software tools, coupled with supplier relationship management expertise.
• Capability to oversee multiple projects with clear goal-setting and accountability to execute commodity procurement strategies successfully.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong aptitude for data interpretation and dashboard analysis.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
• Analytical thinker with robust problem-solving skills and determination to overcome challenges.
