About the Role
PlunketLine operates as a no-cost telehealth helpline, providing continuous support to whānau 24/7. Registered Nurses with clinical expertise guide caregivers in managing everyday parenting questions, handle emergent cases, and offer professional clinical advice.
We are recruiting multiple Registered Nurses to join our team with a minimum commitment of 0.6 full-time equivalent (FTE), working on a fixed biweekly roster featuring various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. While we have physical call centers in Auckland and Wellington, we welcome applications from experienced, confident nurses nationwide who can work remotely given they have a high-speed fibre internet connection and a private, distraction-free workspace ensuring caller confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
PlunketLine nurses handle inquiries about the health and wellbeing of children under five and provide parenting guidance through multiple communication channels expanding beyond phone calls to include virtual consultations and live chat. Nurses must be present and fully available during their shifts.
Call topics range from common child care questions about feeding and sleep routines to urgent health issues like vomiting, respiratory illnesses, and minor injuries. Nurses use their clinical evaluations and judgment to provide accurate advice that can profoundly impact family outcomes. Comprehensive training and clinical leadership support are provided to assist clinical decision-making.
Candidate Profile
Success in this telehealth nursing role requires strong listening and assessment abilities paired with a compassionate, family-centered approach. Nurses must efficiently gather all relevant information, understand caller circumstances, and offer clear and practical recommendations.
Candidates should be adaptable to fast-paced and changing environments, demonstrate resilience, and maintain focus throughout their shifts. Proficiency with multiple computer systems and high digital literacy are essential.
Applicants must have paediatric, emergency, or urgent care nursing experience. While prior telehealth or call center experience is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time salaried nurses earn between $66,222 and $94,842 annually, translating to $33.51 to $48.00 per hour based on experience. Additional penalties apply for evening and weekend shifts.
