About the Role
Star Health Services & Sukoon Psychiatry Centre is a pharmacy service provider supporting hospitals, clinics, and healthcare units by ensuring timely access and safe dispensing of medications. Their team prioritizes pharmaceutical care quality, inventory management, patient safety, and compliance with regulations. They collaborate closely with medical staff to optimize medication management and patient health outcomes across locations in Bangalore, Gurugram, and Hyderabad.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Precisely dispense psychiatric and general medicines according to physicians' prescriptions.
- Evaluate prescribed dosages for accuracy, check for drug interactions and contraindications ensuring patient safety.
- Manage inventory for psychotropic, narcotic, and scheduled drugs abiding by legal regulatory standards.
- Monitor stock levels, expiration dates, storage requirements, and arrange timely restocking.
- Maintain comprehensive pharmacy documentation, dispensing logs, and records aligned to hospital and legal policies.
- Provide counseling to patients and caregivers on medication use, dosage, potential side effects, precautions, and adherence.
- Work in coordination with psychiatrists, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective pharmacotherapy.
- Comply with NABH standards, infection control measures, and medication safety protocols.
- Participate in medication audits, stock checks, and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient data and uphold ethical pharmacy practices.
- Manage emergency medication needs for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care.
- Utilize Hospital Information System (HIS) software for billing, dispensing, and inventory control.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Degree in B.Pharm or D.Pharm from a recognized institution with valid State Pharmacy Council registration.
- Experience working in hospital pharmacies; experience within psychiatric or mental health facilities is preferred.
- Strong understanding of psychotropic drugs, medication safety, and drug interaction principles.
- Knowledgeable of NABH accreditation standards, controlled substance regulations, and hospital pharmacy operations.
- Skilled in pharmacy inventory management and proficient with HIS software such as Marg and MyHealthcare.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists and nurses.
- Detail-focused with excellent organization and record-keeping skills.
- Willing to work in rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as required by the hospital.
- Immediate availability to join is required.
