Role Purpose
The Package Manager reports to the Project Director or Technical Manager and plays a pivotal role within the Project Management and Engineering teams during project execution. The role involves leading package engineering activities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring deliverables meet budget, timeline, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and organize engineering package activities ensuring adherence to project requirements, schedules, and quality benchmarks.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams including defining roles, assigning duties, and supporting team growth.
- Oversee engineering plans, track progress, and coordinate reporting aligned with project milestones.
- Collaborate with procurement, vendors, and subcontractors, including conducting technical bid assessments and vendor follow-ups.
- Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, and relevant international engineering codes.
- Support bidding and tendering by preparing cost estimates, technical documentation, and proposals.
- Manage interfaces between different disciplines to ensure effective information flow and technical integration.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing to enhance engineering practices and methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or a related Engineering field.
- 8 to 12 years of engineering experience, particularly in package engineering or management within oil & gas, energy, or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages such as Italian, French, or Arabic are advantageous.
Technical and IT Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of package engineering design processes and project lifecycle stages from concept to commissioning.
- Proficiency in estimating engineering manhours, cost control, and project budgeting.
- Solid expertise in vendor management, evaluating technical bids, and procurement procedures.
- Knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and HSE compliance requirements.
- Effective management of subcontractors and coordination across multiple disciplines.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and familiar with engineering software tools and document management systems.
- Experience with ERP systems like SAP is considered advantageous.
Additional Information
- This role may require international travel to support projects across EMEA and various offshore/onshore sites depending on the project needs.
- Working hours consist of 45 hours per week (9 hours per day, 5 days a week).
