Job description
About Surfing NSW
Founded in 1963, Surfing NSW stands as Australia's longest-established and largest state surfing association. It supports over 130 affiliated boardrider clubs and 34 licensed surf schools from Kingscliff to Tathra. The organisation is responsible for grassroots events, international competitions, talent development, high performance pathways, and government-backed initiatives like Surfers Rescue 24/7, collaborating with 10 Regional Associations.
Role Overview
Surfing NSW invites applications for two Non-Executive Director positions on its Board. One role focuses on commercial and sponsorship expertise to elevate the organisation's commercial presence and amplify sponsorship income for key programs. The other is aimed at candidates with current or comprehensive financial management experience, ideally with expertise in CFO functions and philanthropic investment.
This is a voluntary role with reimbursement for expenses only. The appointed directors will serve a 2-year term requiring attendance at six Board meetings annually, conducted both in-person and online, alongside involvement in ongoing projects, committees, and workstreams.
Candidate Qualifications
- Proven commercial and sponsorship proficiency to enhance Surfing NSW's commercial presence and grow sponsorship funding, OR extensive financial leadership experience analogous to CFO responsibilities, with philanthropic investment experience being a notable advantage.
- A strong passion for surfing is essential.
- Availability to participate in six Board meetings yearly (in-person and virtual) and active contribution to continuous projects and committees.
- Encouragement for individuals from diverse backgrounds possessing the relevant skills and experience to apply.
