Position Overview
Neo Financial is seeking skilled Mortgage Underwriters to review mortgage applications and underwriting from across Canada. This role involves working closely with the Mortgage Sales team and third-party brokers to deliver tailored financing solutions and provide an exceptional customer experience, supporting the company’s growth and expansion of its financial products.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite mortgage loans with complexity and high value, including non-standard borrower profiles and property types.
- Manage the mortgage process from application through to funding, collaborating with Mortgage Finance Officers (MFOs).
- Engage in clear and effective communication with Sales teams, mortgage brokers, and internal/external partners regarding mortgage processes and necessary documentation.
- Provide timely status updates on active mortgage files in coordination with Sales, MFOs, Coordinators, and brokers.
- Apply problem-solving abilities to make prudent decisions on complex mortgage files; potentially review mortgage documentation as necessary.
- Develop expertise in product features, service offerings, technology tools, and Salesforce CRM functionalities.
- Stay informed on current industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience underwriting mortgages within the Canadian mortgage industry.
- A strong drive for growth and excellence, thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Focused and energetic approach with dedication to delivering outstanding client service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with superior time management abilities.
Additional Information
- Work setting favors in-office presence but offers flexibility for remote candidates who are not near an office location.
- Working hours may sometimes extend beyond the standard Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm MST schedule, depending on business needs.
