Mechanical Estimator

Role overview

A main contractor in Dublin is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to strengthen its tendering team. The position focuses on pricing and preparing bids for sizeable projects across multiple sectors. It is well suited to someone with a solid mechanical background who can handle the full tender cycle and help produce competitive submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess project documents, including drawings and specifications, to support accurate pricing.
• Build detailed cost estimates for mechanical work packages.
• Work with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotations and evaluate them.
• Support tender preparation from the initial enquiry stage through final submission.
• Review costs to spot risks and potential value engineering opportunities.
• Coordinate with internal teams to keep all disciplines aligned.
• Develop and maintain relationships with important subcontractors and suppliers.
• Help improve estimating processes on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or comparable role.
• Background in building services or mechanical construction.
• Experience with data centre projects is strongly preferred.
• Experience working for a main contractor or on large-scale projects.
• Strong commercial judgement and a sharp eye for detail.
• Good communication and organisational abilities.
• Comfortable using Excel and standard estimating software/tools.

Package

The salary on offer is €90,000 to €110,000 depending on experience, plus a package. A full benefits package is available on request, and the role sits within a strong ongoing project pipeline.
