About Us
We are an expanding insurtech company based in Chicago, dedicated to creating software and services that help Americans navigate health insurance—arguably one of the most significant yet confusing financial decisions individuals face. Our market is vast but traditionally relies on outdated call centers and paper processes.
About the Role
We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Associate to manage all company communications to the press, partners, and the general public. This is the first dedicated marketing position at the company, reporting directly to the COO. The ideal candidate excels in writing, is adept at networking with unfamiliar contacts, and can independently create polished visual assets without relying on a designer. Applicants proficient in at least two of these three skills are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce various written materials such as press releases, bylines, executive ghostwriting, landing page and product copy, emails, presentation decks, and scripts, using a clear, warm, and precise voice tailored for a mature audience.
- Develop earned media by pitching and securing stories in trade publications, Chicago business media, and national consumer and personal finance outlets, building and leveraging media relationships.
- Shape the brand's visual identity across social channels, video content, landing pages, and event presence, personally creating materials rather than outsourcing design tasks.
- Implement measurable marketing initiatives including campaigns and content to generate quantifiable leads.
- Ensure consistent storytelling, messaging, and voice coherence across all company communications and touchpoints.
Requirements
- Exceptional writing ability with native-level English fluency; candidates must submit writing samples and complete a paid writing test.
- Between 0 and 5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or entrepreneurship.
- Based in Chicago and available to work onsite at the Wicker Park office two days per week.
- Available to begin on or before August 15, 2026.
- Highly self-motivated and able to independently identify and execute necessary work without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing connections with media professionals such as journalists, editors, or producers, with demonstrated success in placing stories.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite, comfortable taking campaigns from concept to completion.
- Experience creating short-form video content and managing social media channels.
- A portfolio or public body of work such as bylines, newsletters, podcasts, or brands you have developed.
- Experience working in regulated fields like healthcare, insurance, or financial services.
Compensation and Benefits
- Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Paid time off with a mandatory minimum allocation.
- Hybrid working arrangement requiring two days per week onsite at Wicker Park.
- Direct access to senior leadership and opportunities for career advancement into leadership roles.
