About the Role
This position entails leading sales growth and driving the adoption of digital payment products such as Click to Pay, Network Tokenisation, and Authentication within the New Zealand market. The role is based in Auckland CBD and operates on a hybrid schedule with four days per week onsite. The initial contract duration spans 3 to 6 months with a possibility of extension. The successful candidate will manage and nurture merchant relationships, while identifying new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate engagement with prospective clients to expand the customer base and promote product uptake, managing prospects through the sales funnel to closing.
- Conduct market research, cold calling, and network to identify and qualify merchant leads.
- Schedule meetings and generate leads for the sales team.
- Collaborate closely with the Australian Customer Solution Centre team to share market insights.
- Advance sales opportunities, supporting domestic account teams to maximize customer utilization of digital payment solutions.
- Maintain and update a structured pipeline of potential clients and follow up on leads diligently.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics regularly.
- Oversee the sales cycle from prospecting through to contract execution ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum five years of sales or business development experience, preferably with retailers or payment acquirers.
- Established relationships within New Zealand’s retail sector are advantageous.
- Highly motivated with the capacity to swiftly build senior-level relationships.
- Experience in technical presales roles and solid understanding of payment technologies.
- Capacity to handle multiple sales opportunities at different stages concurrently.
- Exceptional communication skills internally and externally.
- Willingness to travel within New Zealand as needed.
Mandatory Qualifications and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, IT, or related field; Master’s degree favored.
- Prior experience in banking, digital payments, card solutions, or fintech sectors.
- Background working in a fast-paced, matrix-style organisation with regional exposure.
- Proficiency in English communication across writing, speaking, and presentations.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot payment-related challenges, optimize workflows, and leverage data-driven decision making.
- Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, digital platforms, system processes, security fundamentals, and contemporary industry technologies.
- Familiarity with regional financial service regulations and payment network standards.
