Core Fitness is the leisure and wellness facility located within the 4 Star Claregalway Hotel, providing members and hotel guests with a contemporary fitness experience. Amenities include a fully equipped gym, an 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, fitness studio, and a growing range of programmes such as swim academy lessons, group fitness sessions, and wellness activities. Our focus is on outstanding customer service within a welcoming and community-oriented setting.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and involved Leisure Centre General Manager to oversee the daily operations of Core Fitness. This role requires hands-on leadership of the gym, pool, leisure spaces, swimming lessons, team management, plant room and energy oversight, and ensuring commercial success.

Key Duties

• Increase sales and memberships as well as member retention.
• Lead, inspire and manage the leisure centre team effectively.
• Manage daily functioning of all leisure facilities, including gym, pool, plant room.
• Develop innovative programmes to expand memberships and revenue streams.
• Manage the swim academy membership lifecycle through to graduation.
• Maintain excellent service standards for members and hotel guests.
• Handle staffing responsibilities including recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
• Keep leisure centre records updated on Alkimii HR system.
• Oversee bookings through the Mindbody platform.
• Manage stock procurement using Procure Wizard.
• Ensure impeccable cleanliness, presentation, and safety standards.
• Comply fully with Health & Safety, pool operation, and plant management protocols.
• Control budgets, stock levels, and departmental expenses responsibly.
• Collaborate with hotel management on marketing, event planning, and promotions.
• Work with the Green Team to monitor energy usage, water, and waste management.
• Promote continuous improvements across all club areas.

Candidate Profile

• Proven management background in leisure centres, health clubs, or fitness environments.
• Demonstrated strong leadership and team management skills.
• Experience with systems like Alkimii, Procure Wizard, and Mindbody or similar booking and membership software.
• Business-savvy with a focus on growing and retaining swim academy and general memberships.
• Superior communication skills and excellent customer service orientation.
• Highly organised, forward-thinking, and able to lead through example.
• Essential qualifications include a recognised fitness certification and a Pool Plant Operator certification.
• Desirable qualifications include Lifeguard, certified swim instructor, and Occupational First Aid certifications.
