Job description

Job Purpose

This role involves operating laundry machines to clean various linens including sheets, blankets, pillow covers, and personal clothing of patients. The aide will be responsible for loading items into washers, adding detergents or cleaning agents as needed, transferring wet laundry to dryers, and sorting dried items by type or identification numbers. Additionally, folding and storing the processed laundry is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Properly fold and organize laundry items such as towels, sheets, blankets, and personal clothes.
  • Hang clothes on racks labeled by patient's names and identification numbers.
  • Deliver patient or resident laundry to assigned locations efficiently.
  • Ensure clothing and linens are prepared for use, free from damage, and stored appropriately.
  • Understand the usage and function of different soaps and bleaching agents.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines including MSDS precautions for all chemicals utilized.
  • Perform washing and drying duties with care and attention.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and follow established sanitation schedules.
  • Keep the laundry area clean and organized, including sweeping and mopping as required.
  • Report any repair needs promptly to the maintenance team.
  • Operate filters and related machinery according to set schedules.
  • Handle soiled laundry properly to avoid contamination.
  • Clean and disinfect linen carts in accordance with company protocols.
  • Empty washing and drying machines as necessary.
  • Manage water, gas, and electric cutoff controls and valves safely.
  • Apply appropriate methods for stain removal following established procedures.

Minimum Education & Experience

A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with laundering processes in healthcare settings is advantageous.
