About the Role

Join Ireland's largest foodservice provider and become an integral part of a passionate team dedicated to supporting and growing the food industry. At Sysco, we serve thousands of cafés, restaurants, and bars nationwide. As an Inventory Operative, you will handle driver paperwork, returned products, and ensure goods are appropriately coded and staged for storage. This role requires adaptable start times across any five days from a seven-day workweek and involves working in environments with varying temperature and humidity, including dry, cool, and freezer areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify all drivers' and customers' signatures on invoices and return documents.
  • Maintain records of any errors found in driver paperwork.
  • Inspect returned assets from drivers thoroughly.
  • Ensure returned products are correctly coded and tagged with labels.
  • Accurately input return and inventory data into the warehouse management system efficiently.
  • Confirm proper placement of equipment and returns on designated pallets within return zones.
  • Perform product checks compliant with HACCP regulations to ensure quality and safety.
  • Complete the release of manifests after the driver check-in process.
  • Keep the return area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Promptly communicate any issues or irregularities to management.
  • Operate electric pallet trucks or forklifts for product transportation within the warehouse.
  • Adhere to Safe System of Work (SSOW) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and immediately report unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain effective communication at all organizational levels.
  • Work proactively and responsibly in a fast-paced warehouse environment prioritizing health and safety.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of product range, placement, and inventory controls.
  • Conduct daily cycle counting to uphold inventory accuracy across all zones.
  • Follow HACCP policies and procedures diligently to assure product safety and quality.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, email, Word, and familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Capacity to identify products and assess quality in line with HACCP standards.
  • Assertive and clear communicator capable of explaining and enforcing policies effectively.
  • Organized with excellent time management to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills to address and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Previous experience in inventory control within a fast-moving warehouse setting.
  • Experienced in operating electric pallet trucks or forklifts.
  • Flexible availability to work various shifts and hours as required.
  • Solid arithmetic skills including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and percentage comprehension.
