Role Overview

This opportunity is for a Mobile Caretaker within the Caretaking Team. The role involves moving between designated sites to complete cleaning and caretaking work in shared and communal spaces.

You will help keep housing estates clean, safe and presentable, while also spotting and reporting maintenance problems. The role contributes directly to resident wellbeing by ensuring communal areas remain welcoming and free from hazards.

You will receive certified training in areas such as Manual Handling, COSHH, Asbestos Awareness and other relevant health and safety topics so you can carry out the job safely and continue developing your skills.

Team and Working Environment

You will be part of Housing Estates Services, working alongside Mobile Caretakers, Estate Caretakers and Bulk Drivers. The team works closely with Housing, Grounds Maintenance and Repairs colleagues to identify and resolve estate issues quickly and keep services resident-focused.

You will report to a Team Leader who will support your day-to-day work and ongoing development.

What the Job Involves

• Cleaning and caring for communal areas to maintain a tidy, safe and well-kept environment.
• Recording completed work using digital systems or platforms.
• Working with colleagues across housing and repairs to support estate-wide service delivery.
• Communicating with residents and staff in a helpful and professional manner.
• Following safe working procedures and applying health and safety guidance, including COSHH and fire safety requirements.
• Managing tasks across multiple sites, adjusting to changing priorities, and carrying out outdoor and physical duties as required.

Requirements and Suitability

• Ability to complete cleaning and caretaking tasks to a good standard.
• Comfort using digital tools to log and track work.
• Good teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with different service areas.
• Clear and respectful communication with residents and colleagues.
• Understanding of safe working practices and awareness of health and safety duties.
• Reliable, organised approach with the ability to prioritise work across locations.
• Ability to travel between sites and handle the physical demands of the role.
• A Basic DBS is required for this position.
