Role overview
This position is responsible for keeping the community clean, sanitary, and safe on a day-to-day basis.
Key duties
- Carry out assigned housekeeping tasks each day according to the work schedule.
- Work with management to complete routine cleaning in resident living spaces and recreation areas.
- Dust, polish, and clean furniture, fixtures, ledges, and heating or cooling units in resident rooms and common areas as directed.
- Wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fittings, including removing any water spots or stains.
- Clean mirrors and windows in resident rooms, recreation areas, bathrooms, and entry or exit areas.
- Wash, wipe, dust, spot-clean, disinfect, and deodorize walls and ceilings as needed.
- Remove dirt, grease, dust, film, and other buildup using appropriate cleaning and disinfecting products.
- Dispose of trash in the correct containers and replace liners in receptacles.
- Notify the supervisor when cleaning supplies need replenishing.
- Clean and put away carts, tools, and other equipment at the end of each shift.
- Take on additional tasks, including special projects, as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Prior experience of 1 year is also preferred.
Physical demands
- Regular movement throughout the workday is required.
- The role involves frequent bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Standing and walking are needed for about 75% of the shift.
- The candidate must be able to push, pull, or move at least 100 pounds with proper body mechanics and assistance.
- The person must be able to see and hear adequately, either directly or with prosthetics if needed.
