Role overview
Silverchain Group is seeking a Home Care Worker to support older people living in Port Macquarie and nearby suburbs. The position is centred on helping clients remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes while improving their day-to-day wellbeing.
What the role involves
In this position, you will deliver practical home help and social support services to aged care clients. The work may include cleaning tasks, meal-related support, companionship, and transport to activities, along with helping family carers take a break when needed.
- Carrying out general household duties such as making beds and tidying living spaces
- Cleaning floors through mopping and vacuuming
- Washing, drying, folding and ironing laundry
- Preparing meals and assisting with grocery shopping
- Offering social support and transport for lifestyle or community activities
- Giving family carers short breaks by stepping in to support the client

The ideal candidate enjoys a varied workday, delivers warm and dependable service, and can create good rapport with clients and their families. You should be committed to helping older people live at home for as long as possible, able to stay calm when plans change, and comfortable working on your own while using your judgement to solve routine issues and escalate when needed.
Requirements
- An open-class Australian driver’s licence
- Your own vehicle that is roadworthy and insured
- Interest in community care or aged care
- Previous experience in care is preferred, though not essential
Pay and benefits
- Hourly award rate of $38.92 plus superannuation
- Paid kilometre allowance
