Role Overview

As the Head of Product Development, you will oversee the entire product lifecycle, working closely with Design, Merchandising, and Supply Chain to deliver premium, high-performance products each season. This role requires balancing quality, functionality, cost, and timely delivery while leading and nurturing a high-achieving team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full product development process across all categories from concept through to market readiness.
• Establish and uphold development standards, timelines, and processes to align with business priorities and go-to-market strategies.
• Provide technical insights during range and line planning.
• Ensure product quality, fit, and performance meet expectations before production approval.
• Manage testing, wear trials, and validation to identify and mitigate quality or performance risks.
• Maintain compliance with safety, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate design intentions into actionable development plans.
• Communicate development progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders at key forums.
• Build strong partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers, working with Sourcing to match capabilities with product needs.
• Support cost engineering efforts while safeguarding quality and performance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the product development team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
• Maintain and optimize PLM systems and related tools to ensure data integrity and workflow efficiency.
• Make decisive calls on timelines, construction methods, costs, and sign-off on product readiness.
• Perform additional duties as directed by the CEO/Founder.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated experience leading apparel product development teams.
• Strong technical expertise in fabrics, garment construction, fit, and performance apparel.
• Experience working in fast-growing or founder-led brands.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functional teams.
• Excellent organizational skills to handle complex projects and competing demands.
• Proficient in PLM systems and development process management.
• Effective communicator who simplifies complex concepts into clear recommendations.
