About the Role
Royal York Property Management, a prominent property management company overseeing numerous residential rental properties in Ontario, is expanding its team by hiring reliable and skilled Handyworkers. This position requires travelling to various residential sites to perform an assortment of maintenance, repair, inspection, and installation duties. The workload varies daily and involves independent work using a mobile work application for managing appointments and recording completed tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine residential maintenance and repair services.
- Conduct property inspections and preventative maintenance procedures.
- Install and uninstall lockboxes as required.
- Replace HVAC filters and execute scheduled maintenance jobs.
- Fix a range of residential fixtures such as doors, locks, faucets, toilets, lighting, blinds, shelves, hardware, and smoke detectors.
- Assemble and fit household items when necessary.
- Capture clear photographic evidence and finalize digital inspection reports.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, suggesting further repairs if needed.
- Utilize the company’s mobile application to receive work orders, navigate with GPS, upload photos, and update job status.
- Travel to job sites using a personal vehicle.
Mandatory Qualifications
- At least 2 years of compensated experience in handyman work, property maintenance, construction, renovation, or similar fields.
- Capability to independently perform typical residential maintenance tasks.
- Ownership of a reliable vehicle for transportation between appointments.
- Possession of tools and equipment needed for general maintenance work.
- Access to a suitable smartphone with GPS functionality and capability to use work-related applications, take photos, and submit updates.
- Basic English communication proficiency.
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable with appointment confirmations via GPS.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in residential property maintenance.
- Experience conducting inspections and documenting repairs.
- Comprehensive understanding of common household maintenance and repairs.
- Able to detect potential maintenance problems before escalation.
