Company overview
Ibis Sydney Airport is a 3.5-star hotel with 200 rooms located in the Sydney Airport precinct, close to the domestic terminal. The property places strong emphasis on creating a welcoming first impression and memorable guest experiences from the moment people arrive.
Role summary
The hotel is looking for a versatile Handyperson to support its maintenance function. This position involves handling a broad mix of repair and upkeep work across the property so that guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas remain safe, functional, and well presented.
What you will do
- Carry out routine checks and minor fixes in guest rooms and shared spaces, including issues such as dripping taps, damaged door fittings, light hardware, silicone touch-ups, and simple plumbing repairs.
- Perform patching and painting work to restore walls affected by scuffs, chips, and general wear.
- Keep guest-facing facilities and hotel equipment in good working order.
- Assist with planned preventive maintenance activities.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain air-conditioning filters.
- Remove obstructions from walkways and help keep outdoor areas safe and tidy.
- Work with management to return out-of-service rooms or areas to use as quickly as possible.
- Spot maintenance concerns early and escalate larger repair needs when necessary.
Candidate profile
The ideal person is practical, organised, and comfortable managing a varied maintenance workload with minimal supervision. You should be able to prioritise effectively, solve problems on the spot, and maintain a high standard of presentation in a guest environment. Professional conduct, good people skills, and a strong focus on safety and guest satisfaction are essential.
Experience and qualifications
Prior experience of around 1 to 2 years in a handyman, maintenance, or facilities position is preferred, though it is not mandatory. Experience in hotels or accommodation settings will be viewed especially positively.
