About the Role
The Greece Central School District is committed to fostering a culture that embraces diversity, inclusion, and equity as fundamental values. We seek a Graphic Artist to contribute collaboratively with staff to uphold and promote these principles across our policies, services, and programs.
This position involves advancing the district’s visual branding by designing high-quality print and digital materials that support various school initiatives and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Create diverse print and digital communications such as flyers, newsletters, reports, posters, infographics, signage, and advertisements.
- Design complex, multi-page publications including budget documents and strategic plans.
- Apply and help refine district brand standards for visual consistency across all platforms and departments.
- Prepare accurate, print-ready files and coordinate with external printers and vendors.
- Work closely with school administrators and leaders to develop and proof visual communication solutions.
- Convert complex data into accessible and visually appealing formats for varied audiences.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Maintain organized libraries of design files, templates, photography, and digital assets.
- Support communications through video production and editing or quickly develop such proficiency.
- Contribute to creative planning sessions related to district events and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with one of the following educational-experience combinations:
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications, Advertising Design, Multimedia Design and Development, Graphic and Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, New Media, Videography or related fields plus one year of paid, full-time or part-time equivalent experience in desktop publishing, graphic design, or videography.
- Associate's degree in one of the above fields plus three years of relevant paid experience.
- Five years of paid, full-time or part-time equivalent experience in desktop publishing, graphic design, or videography.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.
- Degree must be from a U.S. Department of Education-accredited institution; foreign degrees require independent verification.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license or demonstrate ability to fulfill transportation needs of the position.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Advanced understanding of graphic design principles including typography, layout, composition, color theory, visual hierarchy, and branding.
- Strong skills in visual storytelling and conveying complex information clearly.
- Experience with print production workflows, color management, and commercial printing standards.
- Familiarity with established brand guidelines and collaborative work with external vendors and printers.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for print and digital media.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities, adept at juggling multiple deadlines.
- High attention to detail with dedication to professionalism and confidentiality in educational settings.
- Basic photography, photo editing, and digital asset management skills.
- Familiarity with social media content creation, digital marketing, and short-form video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Final Cut Pro is a plus.

- Note: Portfolios relying mostly on pre-made templates or AI-generated designs will not be considered.
- Selected candidates will undergo a design test based on district-provided materials during the interview stage.
Additional Information
- Salary starts at $50,000 annually.
- Position is under the GUSS collective bargaining agreement.
- Workday runs 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 7.5 paid hours across an 8.5-hour day.
- Employment spans a full 12-month work year.
- Reports to the Director of Communications.
- All new hires require NYSED fingerprint clearance before starting.
