Overview

We invite applications for a Gameplay Designer specializing in character development to join a fully remote game development team based in Ireland. This role emphasizes designing third-person gameplay experiences by crafting distinctive and dynamic characters that define combat mechanics and player interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Create innovative playable character designs featuring unique combat styles, weapons, and abilities.
Lead the development lifecycle of character gameplay elements spanning concept, prototyping, implementation, fine-tuning, and release stages.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including gameplay programmers, animators, and designers to produce compelling combat interactions.
Use gameplay analytics, player input, and data-driven methods to refine combat mechanics and ensure balanced gameplay.
Ensure character abilities are well-balanced to provide fair and engaging counterplay experiences.
Prototype and iterate on gameplay systems to enhance overall player satisfaction and game quality.

Qualifications

At least two years of professional experience in character or gameplay design, with a proven track record of shipping multiple game titles.
A strong enthusiasm for third-person action and combat games, backed by familiarity with various titles within the genre.
Demonstrated skill in designing compelling characters with well-defined gameplay identities and mechanics.
Thorough understanding of combat system design principles including balancing strengths and weaknesses.
Hands-on experience with gameplay prototyping and testing.
Proficiency in using Unreal Engine 5 Blueprints to design and implement gameplay abilities.
Excellent communication skills suited to a fully remote teamwork environment.
