Our team, primarily composed of AI specialists and engineers, designs intelligent software for legal professionals including lawyers, paralegals, and assistants. Our innovative offerings automate mundane tasks, manage documents smoothly, and support better decision-making, enabling legal experts to focus on delivering high-value counsel.

Currently, the company is expanding rapidly from 80 to over 250 employees, with a significant portion comprising technical developers and engineers. Joining our dynamic Sydney-based team means working in a fast-moving environment where innovation and ambition thrive.

Role Overview

As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will develop the user interfaces used by legal professionals to handle accounting functions within their firms. Utilizing React, Next.js, Electron, and TypeScript, you will collaborate in a modern mono-repository environment alongside designers, product managers, and backend engineers to build fast, reliable, and user-friendly features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain frontend applications using React, Next.js, Electron, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript.
  • Revamp core accounting components such as timesheets, billing, and payment processes to enhance user experience and architecture quality.
  • Convert design concepts into responsive, accessible, and high-performance interfaces in coordination with UX/UI teams.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to ensure seamless API integration and efficient data flow.
  • Contribute to the shared component library and maintain mono-repo structure.
  • Engage in code reviews and uphold best practices for frontend development.
  • Implement unit and integration testing to guarantee software quality.
  • Identify and fix frontend bugs promptly.
  • Support continuous integration and delivery processes using Bitbucket and version control systems.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to the technology stack and development methodologies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Three to five years of professional experience in frontend development.
  • Proficiency in React and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Next.js or other similar React frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript standards.
  • Hands-on experience with consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
  • Knowledge of Git-based workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with mono-repository environments.
  • Exposure to Electron-based development.
  • Experience with applications hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Working knowledge of modern state and data management libraries like React Query, TRPC, Zustand, Jotai, or Redux Toolkit.
  • Familiarity with contemporary design frameworks or component libraries such as ShadCN, BaseUI, or Radix.

Culture and Work Ethos

  • A proactive mindset that brings innovative ideas and challenges conventional approaches.
  • Ability to foresee future needs and build scalable, extensible solutions.
  • Open and positive collaboration with team members.
  • A quest for understanding and continuously improving solutions.

Company Values and Benefits

  • The work you contribute directly impacts important real-world problems faced by local law firms, enabling them to better serve their communities.
  • You will have meaningful autonomy and opportunities to influence major projects rather than performing routine tasks.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated, passionate team that values authenticity and enthusiasm.
  • CORTO is financially strong and part of a major global LegalTech enterprise.
  • Flexible working arrangements with a hybrid work model supporting collaboration.
  • Career growth opportunities in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
  • Participation in social events, celebrations, sports teams, and access to sailing and yacht events.
  • A focus on well-being, including additional personal time off and gym memberships.
  • An innovative tech environment encouraging continuous disruption and advancement.
  • Exclusive LEAP Home program support for purchasing primary residences.
