Role Overview

The Finance Operations Associate will play a key role in establishing and expanding the finance function within Level Zero Health. Working alongside the leadership team, this position manages daily finance operations and creates efficient systems, processes, and reports that support the company's growth trajectory. The role encompasses finance, operations, grant management, and strategic planning responsibilities in a dynamic and agile startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage finance operations, including building and refining internal finance systems, controls, and workflow processes.
• Assist with month-end close activities such as reviewing expenses, performing reconciliations, and updating budgets.
• Oversee payroll and pension coordination with external service providers.
• Support purchase order management, supplier invoice processing, and payment procedures.
• Develop financial policies and enforce compliance with established internal controls.
• Maintain accurate financial records in collaboration with external accountants.
• Prepare and deliver financial reports for both internal management and external stakeholders.
• Manage financial tracking for projects supported by various grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
• Produce financial documentation for grant applications and monitor grant-funded projects in partnership with R&D teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D to optimize procurement processes and with operations to design scalable finance workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in financial reporting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), management accounting, project finance, or a similar analytical finance discipline.
• Strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles and financial operations.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, or financial data analysis to support managerial decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to create and enhance operational processes to improve efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable collaborating with financial and non-financial teams.
• Proactive, hands-on attitude and enthusiasm for building processes in a startup setting.
• Interest in scientific research and readiness to work closely with R&D teams and adapt to their workflows.

Preferred but Not Essential

• Background working in early-stage startups or growing scale-ups.
• Experience overseeing grant finance or project funding in sectors like life sciences, biotech, or research.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
