Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Estimator to join our Social Infrastructure team based in Swanley, UK. This role is critical in evaluating project costs accurately and producing competitive bids within the social housing sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop precise cost estimates.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure tender submissions are financially sound, technically detailed, and competitively priced.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to support ongoing tender success and business growth.
  • Compile and communicate comprehensive tender cost breakdowns while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Facilitate smooth handover from tendering to project execution teams through effective liaison.
  • Keep abreast of market trends, material pricing, and labor costs to update estimates accordingly.
  • Identify and address potential project risks and opportunities, offering strategic recommendations.
  • Assist with enhancing estimating methodologies to boost accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least five years of construction industry experience, with specific knowledge of social housing projects.
  • Familiarity with JCT and ACA contract suites.
  • Competency in extracting quantities from design drawings and preparing Bills of Quantities.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capabilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency or strong aptitude in cost estimating software tools.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills capable of simplifying complex information.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet challenging timelines.
  • Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or closely related disciplines are preferred.
