Role overview
The Plumber position at Rosewood Red Sea is central to keeping the resort’s water supply, drainage, and sanitation infrastructure running safely and efficiently. The job supports hygiene, guest comfort, and overall operational continuity across an ultra-luxury hospitality environment. It also plays an important part in preventive upkeep, emergency response, and maintaining the high service standards expected from a luxury resort.
Key responsibilities
This role covers daily plumbing upkeep, fault rectification, and support for uninterrupted resort operations. The technician will work across different shifts as needed and may be assigned afternoon or night duty. Cross-coverage for colleagues on leave or absent is also expected to ensure continuous service.
- Keep water supply, drainage networks, and plumbing fixtures in working condition.
- Support safe water standards in kitchens and food-service areas, with attention to hygiene requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and fix leaks, clogs, and other plumbing faults.
- Respond quickly to urgent incidents such as flooding, burst pipes, and drainage failures.
- Carry out duty across varying shifts, including afternoon and night schedules when required.
- Step in for other team members during leave or absence to maintain operational continuity.
- Meet performance expectations based on reliability, responsiveness, and overall job execution.
- Install, assemble, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage lines, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and similar fixtures.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and plumbing specifications accurately.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on plumbing systems.
- Replace worn or defective parts such as washers, seals, and gaskets.
- Run pressure checks to detect leaks and confirm system integrity.
- Maintain water and wastewater systems at optimal efficiency.
- Monitor pumps, tanks, and connected plumbing equipment.
- Keep work areas and plumbing shafts clean and orderly.
- Support water-saving and efficient-use initiatives.
- Use, care for, and store plumbing tools and materials properly.
- Report damaged or faulty tools and equipment for repair or replacement.
- Work safely around wastewater, sewage, and potentially harmful bacteria by following correct hygiene practices.
- Use required protective equipment such as gloves, masks, goggles, and protective clothing.
- Follow sanitation and disinfection steps after contact with contaminated materials.
- Remain alert to confined-space hazards and ensure proper ventilation.
- Comply with workplace safety rules and plumbing codes.
- Handle pressurized systems and hot-water lines safely.
- Reduce slip, trip, and fall risks by keeping the work area safe.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures when plumbing systems are connected to machinery.
- Dispose of waste and wastewater correctly.
- Avoid leakage, water waste, and contamination of clean-water systems.
- Promote sustainable water-management practices.
- Be evaluated on work quality, response time, preventive maintenance, safety adherence, resource use, teamwork, attendance, punctuality, and accountability.
Required qualifications and experience
A trade certification in plumbing is required, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate should be familiar with water and sewerage systems, sanitation practices, and plumbing work in a resort hotel or similar hospitality setting. Practical welding experience is also needed for copper piping, PPR piping, HDPE piping, and MS piping/materials.
