Job Role Overview
This role demands profound expertise in electrical engineering related to equipment such as generators, power transmission and distribution systems, electrical protection schemes, emergency power systems, and specialized electrical apparatus. The position involves applying both technical acumen and business sense to maximize asset value throughout oil and gas project lifecycles, including equipment selection, failure investigation, maintenance support, technology deployment, and risk management. The engineer will independently manage moderately complex projects, applying judgment to resolve electrical engineering problems with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct root cause analyses for recurring performance challenges, collaborating with OEMs and fleet engineers to confirm trends and suggest operational modifications.
- Lead coordination of outage planning scope with internal teams, support planning with technical expertise, document lessons learned, and engage in outage review sessions across sites.
- Evaluate fleet and site data to identify operational performance gaps, report findings to leadership, and assist in executing corrective measures.
- Contribute to technology progression by providing feedback on industry technology applications within communities of practice (CoPs), assist in pilot testing, and collect relevant data.
- Engage in vendor management by participating in CoPs and technical dialogues, providing site-specific feedback, monitoring vendor performance, and escalating concerns as necessary.
Required Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of electrical power engineering principles.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations and standards.
- Experience in electrical system protection and analysis techniques.
