Role Overview
The Dive Operations Associate is tasked with ensuring exceptional guest experiences by upholding the cleanliness and professional state of aquariums and animal habitats. The role also involves safeguarding the health and safety of animals, visitors, and team members. This position requires standing for extended durations, handling lifting up to 45 kilograms, working in confined areas, and adapting to flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, integrity, and visual appeal of exhibits and underwater facilities, including decorative and holding pools.
- Strictly adhere to dive operations safety protocols at all times.
- Keep rescue and basic life support skills at a test-ready competency level consistently.
- Accurately complete daily dive logs and documentation.
- Prepare diving equipment and materials before park opening and store them securely after closing.
- Communicate inventory status related to dive operations to leadership promptly.
- Stay updated and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) dive regulations.
- Complete all departmental and facility-required training sessions.
- Handle, store, and dispose of toxic substances and hazardous waste safely according to company policies.
- Participate actively in dive emergency drills.
- Offer assistance to the Zoological team regarding underwater equipment when needed.
- Lift or move loads ranging from 12 to 45 kilograms, with or without assistance.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Certification as a SCUBA/Open Water Diver or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of one year of diving experience or a comparable blend of education and practical experience.
- Completion of at least 20 logged open water dives in the past two years.
- Basic proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
- Excellent diving abilities.
- Capability to swim continuously for 200 meters and float for 15 minutes.
- Basic skills in mathematics.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Prior diving experience within a theme park or similar environment.
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
Additional Details
This role requires physical stamina to work various shifts including openings, mid, closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Dive Operations Associate contributes significantly to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for guests and animals alike, helping to build lasting memories through exceptional operational standards.
