About the Role
First Student, a leading transportation provider, seeks a Dispatcher to manage bus scheduling and routing while ensuring timely service and driver support. This role exemplifies the organization's dedication to safety and superior customer service, overseeing daily operations and maintaining communication with key contracted clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all bus routes and schedules to guarantee timely performance.
- Provide coaching and counseling to bus drivers and monitors.
- Handle substantial volumes of phone and radio communications.
- Address scheduling and driver complaints, escalating issues to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager.
- Serve as the main communication contact for major contracted customers.
- Administer charter bookings, billing procedures, and driver payroll as necessary.
- Resolve issues related to drop-offs and pick-ups efficiently.
- Perform backup driver functions and miscellaneous clerical tasks when required.
- Undertake special project assignments.
- Assist with the supervision of everyday operational activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in dispatch or terminal operations.
- Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Fundamental understanding of radio dispatch equipment operation.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Capability to work effectively under deadlines and pressure.
- Computer proficiency.
- Subject to successful background verification.
