Role Overview

NEPEAN is looking for a full-time Dispatch Officer based in Mackay. Reporting to the Workshop Foreman, you will manage the movement, receipt and dispatch of goods, equipment and materials that keep workshop and project activities running smoothly. The role requires accuracy, efficiency and a strong focus on safe freight, inventory and delivery processes.

This opportunity is well suited to someone organised, motivated and experienced in dispatch, stores, logistics or warehousing, particularly within a busy manufacturing setting where quality service and attention to detail matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Take in incoming deliveries, unload them, inspect what has arrived and complete the required paperwork.
• Arrange the dispatch of structural, mechanical and pulley-related equipment.
• Plan, book and track freight movements to customer locations.
• Work with suppliers and transport operators to organise local collections and deliveries.
• Prepare delivery notes, dispatch records and all supporting documentation.
• Set up cranes and lifting gear needed to unload large items.
• Pack orders and get goods ready for transport.
• Keep dispatch logs and invoicing records up to date.
• Make sure items are properly identified and assigned to the correct job numbers.
• Liaise with workshop supervisors and operations teams to support project demands.
• Help with stock counts and inventory control tasks.
• Operate forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
• Follow company processes, quality expectations and workplace health and safety requirements at all times.

Requirements

• Background in dispatch, stores, warehousing, logistics or materials handling.
• School Certificate, trade qualification or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Current forklift licence.
• Good planning and time management ability.
• Strong accuracy and close attention to detail.
• Clear written and spoken communication skills.
• Comfortable using computers; experience with ERP software such as Pronto is highly regarded.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Practical, proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and workplace standards.
