Position Overview
This executive leadership role is focused on defining and driving cloud strategy, managed services operations, and platform engineering within an evolving digital health organization based in Canada. The Director will oversee multiple teams responsible for cloud operations, automation, reliability, and scalable deployments.
The role combines strategic planning with direct leadership to enhance platform maturity and customer satisfaction, collaborating with cross-functional groups including engineering, product, security, professional services, and customer success teams to deliver secure, high-performance cloud solutions. A strong emphasis is placed on automation, DevOps, and operational excellence to modernize SaaS and managed service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and expand cloud operations, managed services, and platform engineering teams to enable company growth and customer success.
- Develop and implement strategic roadmaps focusing on cloud platforms, deployment & infrastructure automation, and operational capabilities.
- Enforce IT program management frameworks, governance, delivery methods, and best operational practices.
- Guide the evolution of automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and platform capabilities.
- Advance DevOps and platform engineering maturity through standardization and continuous improvement.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and operational readiness of SaaS and cloud-hosted services.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, security, professional services, and customer teams to enhance delivery and user experience.
- Establish trusted customer relationships to understand needs, service requirements, and long-term goals.
- Participate in business initiatives including customer engagements, proposals, pricing, contracts, and technology planning.
- Manage incident response and operational enhancements, adhering to ITIL and company policies.
- Ensure cloud environments meet security frameworks, regulatory obligations, and industry standards.
- Oversee strategic priorities, budgeting, resource allocation, and business impact maximization.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 7 years in senior cloud operations, IT leadership, or managed services roles leading complex technology projects.
- Demonstrated experience advising or supporting clients in large-scale cloud and technology transformations, particularly in healthcare or regulated sectors.
- At least 5 years working with IT service management frameworks, including networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise support, and operational best practices.
- 3+ years collaborating with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes engineering teams for modern technology delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven leadership and development capability across cloud engineering, DevOps, software/platform engineering, or infrastructure functions.
- Strong customer-focused mindset with experience scaling cloud operations and managed services.
- Strategic thinker able to align technology plans with business goals and lead organizational change.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud technologies, automation frameworks, deployment models, and platform engineering practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, or similar automation platforms.
- Familiarity managing client contracts, SLAs, vendor relations, and contractual matters.
- Well-versed in cloud pricing, budgeting, and financial oversight.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for observability.
- Understanding of security frameworks and standards such as ITIL, HITRUST, ISO 27001/27017/27018, and SOC 2.
- Certifications like CISM, CCSP, CISSP, ITIL, or TOGAF are advantageous.
- Excellent skills in communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and leadership.
