Job Overview
The Desktop Support Specialist role involves diagnosing and resolving technical hardware, software, and networking issues encountered by end-users. This position requires performing repairs on various devices such as desktops, laptops, and printers, as well as installing and upgrading operating systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems experienced by users.
- Conduct break/fix repairs on computers and peripheral equipment.
- Install, configure, and update operating systems and software applications as needed.
- Handle user support requests through ticket systems, email, or telephone communications.
- Manage inventory tracking for hardware, software, and spare parts.
- Refer complex issues to advanced IT support specialists when required.
- Document all troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in desktop support roles or break/fix responsibilities.
- Strong familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, and foundational networking concepts.
- Knowledge of hardware elements and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting.
- Excellent customer service abilities and effective communication skills.
- Capability to work autonomously while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using remote support software and tools.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional.
