Role Overview

Our clients in pharma, biotech, and medtech face mounting pressure to harness data and AI as strategic assets rather than fragmented projects. The Data Strategy Consultant role serves as a senior advisory position within our Data Office, tasked with shaping executive-level perspectives on data, AI, and technology and crafting actionable strategies. This hybrid role demands both strategic leadership and technical awareness, guiding client discussions from initial workshops to final recommendations while working closely with technology teams to ensure alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate data, AI, and technology strategies aligned to client business goals.
• Facilitate client workshops, steering committee meetings, and executive discussions from planning through execution and follow-up.
• Create compelling business cases for data and AI investments with measurable returns.
• Design sustainable governance models for data and AI that clients can implement effectively.
• Advise clients on technology and platform choices without managing technical implementation.
• Interpret complex technical concepts into actionable insights reinforced by strong visual narratives.
• Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, balancing differing priorities across functions.
• Mentor client teams and colleagues in structured problem-solving methods and strategic communication techniques.

Candidate Profile

• Proven ability to distill ambiguous issues into clear, decisive viewpoints under time constraints.
• Skilled at leading senior stakeholder meetings and driving consensus in workshops.
• Experience preparing rigorous business cases that withstand examination from finance and technology leaders.
• Strong presentation capabilities producing polished, executive-grade materials.
• Comfort engaging credibly with data architects and AI engineers without hands-on development responsibility.
• Balanced client management skills, capable of diplomatically challenging and pushing back when necessary.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline; MBA is advantageous.
• 6 to 10+ years professional experience including at least 3 years at a leading consulting firm (MBB, top boutique, or Big 4 strategy practice).
• Demonstrable experience leading client workshops and independently producing deliverables.
• Solid expertise in data strategy, AI strategy, or technology strategy including governance frameworks.
• Experience in life sciences or other regulated industries is beneficial but not required.
• Fluent in German and English.
