About the Role

Join the Customer Analytics team in the Marketing and Communications department at The University of Queensland, located at the St Lucia campus. This full-time, continuing position (HEW Level 7) offers an exciting opportunity to enhance the University's capabilities in machine learning and artificial intelligence, contributing directly to student engagement, recruitment, and service delivery initiatives. With a competitive salary range from $106,709 to $116,199 plus 17% superannuation, this role is embedded in a mature analytics environment featuring extensive data assets and active projects that deliver measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and maintain machine learning models and AI solutions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Create and improve scalable, production-ready machine learning applications utilizing Python, Apache Spark, and modern data science platforms.
  • Partner with IT and business units to build scalable data pipelines and integrate machine learning algorithms within enterprise systems.
  • Interpret complex analytical findings into clear recommendations driving business decisions.

Candidate Profile

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, complemented by relevant professional experience.
  • Proven expertise in deploying and managing machine learning and AI solutions in production environments.
  • Advanced programming proficiency in Python, R, and SQL with a focus on building reliable, maintainable, and scalable codebases.
  • Hands-on experience with data science and ML platforms including Databricks, Apache Spark, Jupyter Notebook, and Docker.
  • Expertise in developing and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration strategies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate business challenges into effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences and fostering collaborative relationships.
