Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to lead our fraud detection initiatives. This pivotal position integrates machine learning, product strategy, and engineering to safeguard millions of clients and merchants by identifying and countering evolving fraud challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, and maintain machine learning models aimed at detecting fraudulent activities, ensuring their continuous monitoring and retraining.
Design and implement experiments assessing the efficacy of fraud prevention measures while balancing user experience and financial losses.
Analyze various fraud categories across product segments to guide priority-setting and investments.
Create and oversee anomaly detection tools to identify new fraud patterns proactively.
Collaborate closely with fraud operations, engineering, product management, and analytics teams to convert model insights into practical fraud mitigation tactics.

Qualifications and Experience

Strong statistical background with a degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
Minimum of three years' experience in data science, risk analysis, or decision science particularly within fraud, payments, or financial crime sectors.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and deploying machine learning solutions in production environments.
Prior exposure to fraud, risk management, or financial services highly advantageous.
Robust fundamentals in data science including experiment design, statistical inference, model validation, and feature creation.
Ability to thrive in dynamic, cross-disciplinary teams while taking strong ownership of deliverables.

Technical Competencies

Fluency in Python and SQL with hands-on experience managing all phases of the modeling lifecycle.
Strong analytical mindset with a passion for uncovering hidden data insights.
Effective communication skills for articulating technical results to non-technical audiences and driving actionable outcomes.

Success Indicators

Deployment of reliable, production-level ML and anomaly detection systems that quickly identify and minimize novel fraud schemes.
Well-structured experiments that successfully balance client satisfaction and fraud reduction.
Accurate quantification of fraud patterns to inform strategic product and investment decisions.
Flawless coordination across teams to ensure model findings translate into effective fraud response actions.
