Job description

About the Role

Join a leading quantitative investment organization that leverages advanced technology and data science to drive investment strategies. As a Data Operations Analyst with the Global Data Operations (GDO) team, you will play a vital role in delivering and maintaining the workflows that empower active trading with timely, high-quality data. Working closely with a global, collaborative team, your work will directly impact the business's operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve production alerts using documented procedures; manage each incident from investigation to closure or escalation.
  • Document and optimize operational processes by developing runbooks that standardize ad-hoc solutions into repeatable, low-risk procedures.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, investigate anomalies, validate information, and address issues at their source.
  • Apply set quality standards to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial datasets.
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple teams—including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders—to enhance data-driven processes.
  • Propose and execute improvements to data management policies, streamlining efficiency and reducing errors.

Candidate Profile

  • Proficiency working at the system level: command-line interaction (especially UNIX/Linux), database querying (SQL), log analysis, and navigating file systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python, and an understanding of when process automation is appropriate versus written procedures.
  • Inclination toward operations—you excel at running daily processes accurately and value reliable execution.
  • Adaptability across various tools and environments, comfortably switching between OS types, databases, command-line interfaces, and graphical tools as needed.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area or equivalent practical experience supporting technical or operational functions.
  • At least one year of hands-on professional experience is required, with preference for candidates possessing up to five years in relevant roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in data operations or technical operations, e.g., data analyst, support engineer, process engineer, systems administration, QA, or related operational fields emphasizing process following and procedure writing.
  • Practical experience in large-scale data management and quality assurance tasks.
  • Interest in furthering expertise in finance and financial trading domains.

Working Hours

This position operates according to London market hours, beginning from around 7:00 AM to ensure effective coverage of the trading day. Work is fast-paced and may require responding to time-sensitive situations; however, there are no obligations for out-of-hours or weekend support.
