About the Role
Join the evolving data transformation initiative at Bank of Ireland Group, a forward-thinking and inclusive employer committed to leveraging data to power insights and strategic decisions. We invite seasoned Data Modelers to become integral members of our Group Data and Analytics Office (GDAO). This opportunity involves working within an agile framework on critical projects and regulatory programs, supporting the bank's ambitious data strategy objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop key data models for the bank by engaging with significant change and regulatory initiatives, such as BCBS and SRB programs.
- Establish and maintain strong processes, standards, and documentation related to data modeling practices.
- Collaborate with the Group Data Modeling team to strengthen internal modeling expertise across the organization and contribute to expanding the Data Modeling team's capabilities.
- Drive improvements in the bank’s reporting and analytics through the creation of standardized, integrated data stores.
- Participate within an agile delivery squad to interpret project requirements and assess their impact on the bank’s data models.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least five years of solid experience in business, logical, and physical data modeling within large complex enterprises, balancing business needs with technical modeling approaches.
- Ability to accurately gather user requirements and map them to existing models or design necessary model extensions.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey model content to business stakeholders.
- Creative problem-solving skills to devise innovative solutions where standard templates or processes may not be available.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of developing emerging talent.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments with a mindset attuned to agility.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Familiarity with Banking Industry Data Models, especially Teradata Financial Services Logical Data Model (FSLDM).
- Knowledge of both normalized (Inmon) and denormalized (Kimball) data modeling methodologies.
- Proficiency in Erwin data modeling tool, with complementary experience using Jira and Confluence.
- Background in data integration or migration projects is advantageous.
- Independence and decisiveness with a readiness to challenge norms and resilience to uphold divisional integrity within the Group-wide data modeling framework.
