Role Summary

The Data Analytics Engineer 1 role contributes foundational analytical expertise to collect, process, and analyze complex data sets. This position supports the creation of analytic methods, reporting tools, and visualizations that convert raw data into meaningful insights to inform business decisions. The role requires growing independent judgment in interpreting requirements, applying analysis techniques, and ensuring data reliability. Proficiency development in standard tools and models is a key objective to produce high-quality, insight-driven outcomes.

Work Arrangement

Position is based in Durham, North Carolina with flexible work options. Employees are expected to spend at least 60% (24 hours) of their workweek onsite, with specific scheduling coordinated with management to meet team and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and validate data from multiple sources applying professional analytical methods to guarantee accuracy and consistency.
• Conduct exploratory and descriptive data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and key performance factors valuable to business units.
• Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and visual aids that clearly communicate analytical insights.
• Interpret data requirements in collaboration with stakeholders to design and execute appropriate analyses.
• Document analytical methodologies, sources, and processes to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
• Contribute to cross-departmental projects by supplying data-driven insights and supporting problem-solving efforts.
• Identify and recommend enhancements to analytical processes, reporting standardization, and data quality improvements.
• Expand expertise in analytical tools, data modeling, and best practices for increased autonomy and impact.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, with up to two years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to organize, scrutinize, and maintain accuracy in data handling.
• Experience developing reports and visualizations via Excel or beginner business intelligence software.
• Basic skills in SQL, Python, R, or similar analytic programming languages.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving capabilities in data-centric environments.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Eagerness to acquire new data analysis skills and technologies enhancing business intelligence.
• Foundational understanding of applicable regulatory standards consistent with healthcare data environments, contributing to compliance.
• Familiarity with GMP quality management systems like ISO 13485.
• Knowledge of clinical lab regulations such as CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, ISO 15189.
• Understanding of protected health information privacy laws including HIPAA and GDPR.
• Awareness of regulations pertaining to medical device operations and clinical study environments, including IVDD, IVDR, FDA 21 CFR series, ICH E6, ISO 20916.
• Proficient analytical and quantitative skills to interpret and relay data findings clearly.
• Experience with data structures, relational databases, and fundamental data visualization principles.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is estimated between $86,000 and $106,000, with exact figure tailored to candidate qualifications, experience, and location. Additional compensation opportunities may include bonuses and incentives subject to company policies.
