About the role
Westpac New Zealand is hiring a full-time, permanent Customer Service Representative for its Tauranga City branch, working Monday to Friday. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers and a steady, supportive presence when they need help most. You will assist people in resolving banking issues, guide them through digital services, and help make everyday banking simpler and more accessible.
The position is varied and fast-moving. On some days you may help a customer regain access to online banking, while on others you may support them through card disputes or explain regulatory requirements in a clear and reassuring way. The role calls for curiosity, empathy, and a practical problem-solving approach, with the aim of leaving every customer feeling listened to and well supported.
What you will do
- Act as the first friendly contact for customers by phone or in branch.
- Help customers with online banking access and other digital tools.
- Handle card disputes and other service issues with care and accuracy.
- Explain relevant banking and regulatory requirements in simple terms.
- Work through several priorities while staying calm and solution-focused.
- Support customers so they leave each interaction feeling informed and reassured.
What you will bring
Westpac is looking for someone who is genuinely people-focused, comfortable in a busy environment, and keen to learn and grow. You may be a recent graduate or bring experience from another customer-facing or administrative role. What matters most is your enthusiasm for helping others, your comfort with digital tools, and your willingness to build a long-term career in banking.
- Experience in customer service or administration, with a strong interest in helping people.
- Confidence using digital systems and guiding others through them.
- Ability to manage competing tasks while staying composed.
- Awareness of financial services, compliance, or regulated environments, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong problem-solving ability and flexibility as customer needs change.
- A growth-oriented mindset and motivation to deliver strong outcomes every day.
Benefits
- 4 weeks of standard annual leave plus 5 extra wellbeing leave days.
- Option to buy additional leave, up to 4 more weeks each year.
- Banking benefits, insurance discounts, and access to a superannuation scheme.
- Career development support with internal growth opportunities and recognition for high performers.
- Enhanced parental leave, including top-up of government-paid parental leave.
- School holiday subsidy to help with family balancing during school breaks.
- Environmental and community care initiatives.
