Cover Supervisor

Role overview

The Thomas Hardye School is looking for a confident, energetic Cover Supervisor to step in when teachers are absent for short periods. In this role, you will keep students focused, support their learning, and help them complete set work to a high standard.

What the role involves

• Oversee classes during short-term teacher absences.
• Keep students engaged, motivated, and working productively.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively so lessons stay on track.
• Support students in completing assigned work to the best of their ability.

What the school is looking for

• A positive, committed approach to supporting the learning of all young people.
• Strong relationship-building skills with students and colleagues.
• At least Level 2 qualification, with GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Previous experience supervising whole classes or large groups of students in a school setting.

Working pattern and conditions

This is a term-time-only position covering 39 weeks plus inset days. The working hours are 31.5 per week. Salary is £19,643 to £21,632 per year, with a pay award pending.
