Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperatures according to HACCP and food safety protocols.
  • Assist senior culinary staff with ingredient preparation and mise en place for kitchen stations.
  • Monitor and maintain food quality standards; promptly alert management if products do not meet specifications.
  • Strictly adhere to food safety and quality management systems enforced at the facility.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, learning to handle specialized tools as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene at your workstation, supporting overall kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the relevant department promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to enhance efficiency, display courtesy, and foster a positive environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and represent the organization with pride at all times.
  • Engage actively in training and development programs recommended by management.
  • Comply fully with company policies, hotel regulations, and reasonable management requests.
  • Implement energy conservation and proper waste disposal measures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Support the Duty Manager with additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience as a Commis Chef in a hotel, banquet kitchen, or high-volume catering environment; luxury hotels may require a minimum of 3 years.
  • Basic understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines.
  • Capability to prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality requirements.
  • Experience working in fast-paced banquet operations with large-scale event preparation is advantageous.
  • Proficient knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle pressure, multitask effectively, and stay organized during busy service times.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended durations and lift kitchen supplies as necessary.
