Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Color Assistant to join our Commercial Post Production team in Atlanta, GA. This role chiefly supports color grading processes, including client sessions, media setup, conformity checks, rendering, quality control, deliverables management, and archiving for a variety of project types such as commercials, episodic series, features, and branded content.

As a primary technical support agent in our Color Department, you will also maintain versatility by assisting editorial and finishing workflows when needed. This includes providing coverage during absences or high workload periods. Success in this position requires a strong technical understanding, meticulous attention to detail, excellent client communication skills, and the capacity to oversee several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced post-production environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage incoming media formats including EDLs, XMLs, AAFs, graphics, audio, and reference materials.
  • Construct and uphold project folder structures that optimize workflow consistency and efficiency.
  • Conform timelines using editorial source materials, verifying their precision against offline references.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to conforming, relinking, frame rate, color management, and media files.
  • Prepare DaVinci Resolve projects aligned with departmental standards and set up color suites for sessions.
  • Test and verify playback performance, audio routing, monitoring, and remote review platforms for smooth operation.
  • Support colorists during both attended and unattended sessions by anticipating and addressing technical needs.
  • Promptly troubleshoot live session problems and manage project updates and session versions.
  • Operate remote review tools and manage streaming platforms to facilitate client collaboration.
  • Communicate progress and technical issues clearly to producers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a professional and client-ready atmosphere consistent with high service standards.
  • Render color-graded media into specified formats, produce client deliverables and alternate versions.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control to ensure image quality, color accuracy, and file integrity of all outputs.
  • Package and deliver outputs securely through transfer systems, cloud storage, or physical media, while maintaining thorough backup and archival documentation.
  • Handle media transfers, backup, restores, and archives; track assets across storage systems and enforce organizational and naming standards.
  • Support other departments including finishing (Flame) and editorial (Avid, Premiere) with media prep, conform verification, rendering, delivery, quality control, project setup, ingest, transcoding, versioning, exports, and archiving during peak workloads or absences.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficient knowledge of DaVinci Resolve and post-production color grading workflows.
  • Understanding of digital cinema cameras, codecs, color spaces, and video file formats.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS/cloud storage systems and professional video standards.
  • Familiarity with media management and file transfer technologies.
  • Solid knowledge of editorial workflows and conform processes.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with Autodesk Flame, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Competence in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
  • Knowledge of remote review technologies and workflow automation or scripting.

Personal Attributes

  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and confidence handling technical challenges.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks calmly under pressure.
  • Proactive, client-focused attitude with a collaborative and independent working style.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt.
