About Rocket Lab
Rocket Lab is a comprehensive space company providing launch services, spacecraft design and manufacturing, satellite components, and more — all aimed at expanding access to space. Our rockets and satellites support critical missions, including scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate change initiatives, national security, and new technology demonstrations. The Electron rocket is one of the most frequently launched U.S. rockets annually, having deployed over 230 satellites. We are also developing the Neutron reusable medium-lift launch vehicle for larger constellation deployments. Our Space Systems division builds a broad range of satellites and payload components, some selected for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and the James Webb Space Telescope.
Role Overview
The CNC Operator position at Rocket Lab is integral to our Machine Shop operations across global manufacturing sites. This role involves using cutting-edge CNC machinery to transform engineering designs into finished parts for satellites, satellite components, and rockets.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality parts for rocket and satellite manufacturing.
- Manage all aspects of machine setup, including vice and chuck changes.
- Establish work coordinate systems, tool settings, and perform loading and measurements.
- Monitor cutting conditions and adjust processes during machining as needed.
- Inspect completed parts to ensure quality standards.
- Maintain CNC equipment to ensure optimal production performance.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of three years relevant industry experience is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven high workmanship standards.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, and Mitsubishi CNC controls.
- Experience with CAD design.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping abilities.
- Capability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively.
- Commitment to following standardized processes.
