Civil Laborer

Position Overview

The Civil Laborer role supports skilled tradespeople by assisting with a variety of physical tasks at construction sites, emphasizing adherence to safety standards and orderly work environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople in setting up their work areas as needed.
• Follow directions provided by superintendents, foremen, and experienced crew members.
• Prioritize safety while carrying out all duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work sites.
• Understand and comply with signage, equipment instructions, jobsite safety norms, and policies.
• Observe installed equipment to identify potential hazards.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent may be required, along with prior experience in construction or related fields.
• Proficient understanding of job requirements, with effective communication skills for interacting with management and supervisors.
• Ability to safely and effectively utilize hand tools, power tools, and layout equipment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to continuously move throughout construction or industrial sites—including standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions is expected.
• Flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as necessary.
• Capability to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and utilize mechanical lifts or platforms—sometimes exceeding heights of 200 feet.
• Capacity to work in confined, cluttered, uneven, noisy, and dusty environments.
• Able to lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds across job sites.
• Possession of necessary personal tools is required.
• Compliance with all safety and project regulations, as well as willingness to perform additional tasks as needed.
• Must successfully pass pre-access drug and alcohol screenings and be fit for duty.
