About the Role
The Circle Head for Gold Loans is accountable for driving strategic implementation, business growth, profitability, portfolio quality, and operational governance within the allocated region. This leadership role involves steering regional teams to successfully meet targets related to assets under management (AUM), disbursements, profit and loss (P&L), branch development, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business plans for the circle including expansion strategies, manpower planning, and productivity benchmarks aligned with the national directives.
- Build and nurture new relationships with all relevant stakeholders including enabling functions and regional entities, while managing large teams encompassing multiple regional heads and widespread branch networks.
- Ensure strict compliance with all regulatory guidelines, maintaining portfolio health and monitoring market conditions.

Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) is a leading NBFC registered with the RBI, offering a broad portfolio of lending solutions nationwide. The Circle Head role requires translating national gold loan strategies into actionable plans while managing risks and regulatory compliance rigorously. Challenges include sustaining rapid growth alongside low loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, maintaining low non-performing assets (NPA), averting fraud and operational risks, enhancing underperforming branches, and ensuring positive customer experiences.
Performance Metrics
- Sustainable growth in AUM and customer base, with focus on both new and renewal loans.
- Profitability management through metrics like net interest margin, operating profit, return on assets/equity, and cost ratios.
- Maintaining asset quality and risk controls such as GNPA/NNPA levels, adherence to LTV norms, fraud prevention, and recovery rates.
- Optimizing branch productivity including branch expansion, break-even timelines, and sales productivity per branch.
- Driving effective sales, customer acquisition cost control, conversion ratios, repeat business, and cross-selling.
- Ensuring strict adherence to compliance, audit standards, internal policies, and zero tolerance incident management.
- Leading people management efforts focused on attrition control, talent readiness, training, and productivity improvements.
Team Reporting
Direct reports likely include Regional Heads for Gold Loan, and in their absence middle-level managers such as Area and Branch Heads.
Key Relationships
- Internal: Regular collaboration with Zonal Heads, IT department, Marketing team, and support functions including Risk Policy, Audit, Compliance, and HR.
- External: Interaction with customers for feedback and complaints, marketing partners, investment banks for funding and market insights, and vendors for product development and training support.
