About Our Vancouver Office

Role Overview

As a Subject Matter Expert involved in Teck's Transformation program, you will represent your local site or regional team to ensure their knowledge and needs are integrated into the program. Your role includes contributing insights on current processes and systems to shape an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution tailored to operational and compliance standards. This position is offered as a one-year contract.

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety leadership by following and promoting safety and environmental protocols.
  • Serve as the intermediary between the ERP program team and local sites or regions.
  • Deliver detailed feedback to Process Leads and Group Process Owners about local business workflows, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Confirm that future process designs meet the specific requirements of local operations.
  • Engage in gathering requirements, mapping processes, and analyzing gaps.
  • Participate in data migration by identifying and confirming critical data sources.
  • Assist with testing phases, including user acceptance testing, to validate ERP functionalities against local needs.
  • Help create and deliver customized training materials for respective teams or locations.
  • Identify and escalate risks or challenges related to the adoption of new processes and changes during transitions.
  • Work closely with organizational change teams to enhance communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Conduct post-deployment support to sustain business processes effectively.
  • Support category management by assisting in the development of category strategies and plans that secure supply and foster supplier relationships focused on value and innovation.
  • Organize and manage sourcing events and contract negotiations utilizing the contract management system.
  • Provide tools, data analysis, and assessments to advance category progress and value creation.
  • Take part in special supplier negotiations for designated categories.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to establish electronic catalogs within SAP supporting strategic contracts.
  • Review and enhance supply management capabilities across planning, sourcing, and management functions at operational sites while delivering value through group contracts.
  • Manage contract performance continuously with monitoring and reporting metrics, including financial outcomes such as savings and budget variances.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in site or region-specific operational systems and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of supply management encompassing planning, sourcing, process improvement, and sustainability.
  • Extensive experience in global sourcing, category management, RFx processes, and contract drafting with technical knowledge relevant to the mining sector.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and contract drafting skills, complemented by interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Familiarity with SAP or Ariba implementations or related process improvement projects is considered an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, project-driven environments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
